I know many people feed their monster fish market fish fillets and seafood from the grocery store. I was wondering which fish were the best to be served as food in the aquarium? I'm assuming tilapia is one of the best but wanted to know some others and if there were any we should steer clear of when feeding our fish.

My reason for asking is because I work at a restaurant that serves salmon and wanted to know if it was ok to feed my fish it since it's so easily accessible and basically free for the small amount I would use.

Avoid mackerel and sardines, in FW tanks, due to their high oil content. Marine systems using protein skimmers are capable of removing these oils. FW systems simply become maintenance nightmares when using these food items.

Salmon is a great food source. Use small chunks and remove uneaten food quickly.

Salmons and trouts tend to make the water surface oily.
