Have a 55g growout tank with 7 Ps. Elongatus " Ussiya " and 5 now 4 ps saulosi, all about 1".The fish are flashing occasionally against the sand.I noticed yesterday one was hiding in a cave but came out at feeding time.Saw today just tattered remains of the fish was watching them for a while thought maybe the ussiya were beating on the saulosi but but any aggression was mostly between the ussiya. So I dont know how the one died aggression or disease but the flashing combined with one dead fish has me concerned.Examined all the fish as closely as possible and saw no external signs of disease, color is good eating eagerly very active.

ammonia and nitrites 0 nitrates 5 just did a 50% waterchange emp 400 filter

Dont think its Ick fish have been in the tank with no fish added for 3 weeks.no signs of spots

edit:and yes I mean scratching

hmm, ich can always stay in the water, and not necessarily affect your fish then. i normally cry when i start seeing fish scratch because in my tank- i know it means ich epidemic. it depends how often they do it, and it really could be down to anything. ive seen "healthy" fish do it, but if your worried i guess you can add aquarium salt?

U didn't mention anything about pH

Good one kc lim,the ph is usually 8 but some co2 in my well water causes a slight drop.
Fish not flashing today the deader probably just lost a fight.saw on another forum its pretty common to see mbuna flash after a waterchange.
