I have had 5 Geo. Red Head Tapajos in my 55 gallon along with an L200 pleco. Recently i noticed the geo's flicking. However, here is the strange thing:

Not a single piece of livestock and/or live food has been introduced into the aquarium in OVER A YEAR I've had the Geo's for a year and a half. Pleco i've had for an amazing 6 years.

Lately I've been doing weekly 30-40% water changes to try and induce them to breed.

Could this possibly be gill flukes? All of the gills look fine. Fish are eating fine as well.

The tank also has a massive level of filtration. 500gph from a wet/dry and 300 gph from a canister.

I haven't tested the water as my kits expired. I'll be going to get some new kits shortly.

What could this be?

I can't see it being a parasite as the only thing introduced to the tank has been tap water treated with prime during water changes.

No one responded to this but I believe I found the issue. The flicking I believe is coming from my water changes and quality of tap water. As I said, I do a 40% water change weekly. I believe the flicking is from heavy metals and other components in my tap. I do treat with Prime. Water parameters are perfect, no possible parasite introduction as stock is the same for over a year.

Fish looked great over the weekend with almost no flicking.
