Hello! I searched the forum and I didnt find a thread on this subject. So I'm starting one. Alot of my friends that have fish are struggling with food. Especially when they are getting bigger. So I have made my own fish food for quite sometime and decided to share my recepie with you. And I really hope that you will also share your fish food recepies here aswell.
Shrimp Mix
Suited for most fish
What you need:
Mixer, Bowl, Freezer, Zipit bags
Ingredients:
2lb of Shrimp
1lb of Gadidae
½cup of Green peas
2 tbs of astaxanthin or Spirulina
1 raw egg
10 drops of fish vitamins
Remove only the head of the shrimp. Leave the shell. The reason why you remove the shrimp is that their antennas are really sharp and might be hard to mix. And if your really unlucky there is a chance that they will pierce the stomach of the fish and kill it. Make sure that you mix it untill it feels like a smoothie. Put in the Gadidae mix it with the green peas. The ammount of green peas can be adjusted depending on the fish that you feed it to. If you have alot of herbivores its better to add more peas than shrimp. After its all mixed put it all in a bowl and add the astaxanthin or spirulina. Mix it well and add the egg and the vitamins. The reason why I use and egg is becouse I use it insteed of gellatin, and its also better for the fish digestion system. After its all mixed in fill it in zipit bags and flatten them out. Make sure the bag is about halv an inch thick and close the bag. Store it in a freezer for 2 hours. Take one out and break it in smaller pieces and mix it with a cup of water from the tank. Let the food thaw in the cup and then serve it to your fish.
Astaxanthin and Spirulina is easy to buy at the local fish store. If they do not have it in the store they should be able to order it.
If you want you can also mix in pellets in the mix aswell. I really like to have some feedback on my recepie. If there is something that you do not think should be in the mix or if you think I should add anything. Feel free to add your recepies aswell
