hi any help here? i am not sure what to put in my 3'x1'x16" tank. i want to put a nice looking fish in there that won't get to large for my tank. i am thinking frontosa but i'm not sure how big they get. i already have a couple oscars and a GT in a different tank, i am looking for something different. thanks for any help.

how large do they get, and would they color better in a pair? thanks

Salvini generally are not very expensive. Males max out around 8 inches and females around 5-6. The females generally tend to be brighter in color, with crisper yellows and more reds.

38g would only be good for a single female salvini at most, def not big enough for severum or discus either, salvini are not expensive either and IMO the females are actually prettier than the males in this sp anyways, salvini are quite aggressive and my little female i have in my big tank right now is only about 2in and is already showing amazing color and isnt shy at all, if only you were near me i would actually give her to you as i am going to be posting her sale soon anyways. but yeah if you dont go with the salvini i would suggest a trio of apistos of some sort, you could do the trio with a nice large school of some type of small tetra and youd have a pretty nice little tank without having to worry to much about aggression issues

Max size about 6" they are pretty cheap anywhere from 5 to 8 dollars

Thanks for your help I might get a female salvini. The apostle look pretty cool to I may add one to my community tank. Thanks everybody
