Hey everyone i just introduced myself but heres a Q already

I dont have a big tank/pond and wont have one 4 a while. But i think i'm getting a 40g for christmass so my Q is what is a big fish for a 40g? thannks.

oh and just to you mods, if you want to move this thread to a getting started forum feel free. i couldnt find one.

Depends on deminisons is it more long is more high becasue angel fish like hieght while other fish such as cichlids prefer length.

i am not saying that angels can go in a 40G just a example i hope was correct  just to say i know nothing about angel fish apart from that fact so yea xD.

Here is a site that will help you i think africans are always a nice fish if you want community and loaches are always fun to watch or maybe a breeding pair of convicts.

Also do more in depth reserach since this sites provides what type of fish are out there but lacks the more in depth info....

What type of fish do you like? Do you want one fish or a pair? Cichlids or not? Give some detail on your taste and it is easier to help you.

Oh, and congrats on becoming a MFKer.

Community Tank

Breeding Tank

And in a 40g could have meduim sized fish

Hope we are helping at MFK :D

40g long. i like fishh like oscars andd i would get 1 but thhey need a 70g. i would rather a pair than a loner.

Thanks for the welcome oscar i didnt get it at first and thought you were calling me something lol

Ok, tons of fish that would make a nice pair in a 40, just have plans for the fry. Convicts, Hon. red points, jewels, firemouth, media lunas, pretty much any cichlid that tops out at around 5-6 inches.

For a community, a 40 is plenty big for eco-specific setup. Nice Amazon community with rams and other dwarfs and some neons or rummy nose and a handful of cories is awesome. Or even a danio/gourami tank.

all those mentioned above are great options, you can also do a mini-Tanganyikan community of julies and shellies
