I was considering a RTM or a Mayan Cichlid for a tank that was 75 or 90 gallons and wondering if there are other fish to consider and I was wondering what type of personalities these fish have. Thanks!!!

RTM or Mayan in a 75 for life is pushing it for a male. Females of either would probably be fine. I have not kept a mota, Mayans tend to be fun fish to own, interactive and aggressive as hell. You could do it, but in my opinion, slightly smaller fish would be better. Nandopsis tetracanthus, H. deppi, salvini, would be some good options.

I concur with gourami shami, 90 gals is stuff all. Gotta go big mate if you want healthy fish

Thanks for replies and I was wondering what other options I have for a single fish in a 75 or 90 gallon aquarium.

Depends on the dimensions, what have you got in mind pal? Is this your only tank or have you got a setup? So is it 75 or 90 us gals?

So I have only decided I will get a 75 or 90 gal tank and it will depend on the fish I get but leaning towards 75 gallons it’s 4 ft long and 18 inches wide.

Also I would like to know what substrate and decorations the fish might need if you have suggestions. Thanks!!!!

Yep yep no worries, sand is usally the go for substrate. Since both aficans n SA fish have mostly sandy bottoms. Hmm as for fish bro im not sure depends on what you want. I could suggest a dozen fish but its all up to you.

And as for decor watch out for fake plants man they arent worth it. I had a big texan that ate i bit of plastic out of aggression that killed him

Oh, what is the average size of Texas cichlids and grammodes cichlids, also are there any large African cichlids that can be kept by themselves in a 75 gallon. Thanks
