Jack dempseys, convicts, firemouths, polypterus senegalus, some of my choices
its a 100, not a 55:screwy:

go with large cichlids. an oscar or two. a festae. a jag. or go with something a little different. 5-6 red belly piranhas would be kinda cool (cichlids are better though:grinno:). some red tail barracudas would work. so would other large characins, like a watermalon fish (dumb name, but a cool fish).

good luck, and remember, don't over stock.

P.S. any petstore will tell you that you can keep arowanas and pacu in there. dont listen to them unless you plan on upgrading to a much bigger tank in the very near future:D

One of my tanks measures exactly what yours does. 72"x18"x18" it is a 100gal. I keep a bunch of juvies in mine. black belt, JD, A few flowerhorns, a few Ice blue zebras, Jewel, texas, redtail loach, parrots and plecos. I just moved out the 10 Ice blues into there own tank to thin it out a little.
