ok when i put my piranhas in to my 240 when ever i turn the lights on or off they freak out and run in to the wall:screwy::screwy::screwy: help before they hurt themself fish are in danger over here:(

Unfortunately, this is common with Piranha, as well as Pacu and Silver Dollars (their close relatives). You could try floating plants, which would provide some shade. Also, I've run my 125, with 2 Gars and 10 Silver Dollars, for about a year without any extra light. It gets a lot of light from the windows, and I've found that I really don't miss the artificial light at all. This is just a suggestion.

Increase ambient rm lights first and if you can gradually turn bulbs on in sequence above the tank. Eventually they will get used to it, plus before they knew the boundaries of the tank the 240 has more space so they getup more speed once they realise this tank also has boundaries they will learn to avoid them

ok cool what are some good plants?

Water sprite check my thread below you'll see it in my full tank shot, thats its fifth reincarnation i keep taking it out and stragglers regrow within days. Hard to get rid of but easy to control makes good garden compost too
