i have 34 exos, to pictus, 1 ornatus cat and 2 botia in a 450ltr. They are all gasping.

put an aerator...an air pump...antichloramine

ask your housemate if they had used any insecticides..

thanx i will hook up the pump, i do have an air line to my powerhead, no chemicals used in the house.

cheers

Just b/c the are moving their jaws as if to be "gasping" for air doesnt necesarrily mean there is a deficiency of O2. Could just be stressed from the water change. Are they fairly new to the tank? Are they shy fish, or friendly with you.

Hi

All is well gasping has stopped, i added the airpump, moved my powerhed to the water line and made sure both my externals are agatating the surface. The fish were never skittish or stressed dont back off always coming to the front of the tank, they have been in there for 2 weeks and were comfortable from day one.

The only thing i had to do was add finrot and antifungal treatment, did this on the weekend and i am sure the gasping started a 2 days after the treatment was put in???? The treatment was for me newest batch of exos's, these developed finrot.

You probably over medicated and didn't have enough oxygen flowing. I've done the same thing before.

Well, atleast they're ok. The only time I've had that happen is when my air pump died out...and luckily it's a quick fix.
