Is this something that happens ? Male jag seven or eight years old, He was doing great up until a about six months ago now it seems like he is having a harder time getting his food. I used to feed him one pellet at a time he would always grab it and come back for more now I almost have to drop it in his mouth it seems he can't see it on top of the water . He is always hungry and searching on the top for food and when I am trying to feed him he just grabs where my fingers are most times missing until I nudge the pellet right into his line of attack so to speak. Is this something that happens ? I have to admit I haven't heard of a fish going blind.

Thats a hard one to say. I will say, fish do tend survive blindness pretty well. Try some different foods and see what happens

It could be copper poisoning if he eats store bought feeders,a little epsom might help, just make sure he gets his food and do water changes

Are his eyes getting cloudy?
I had a convict for 15 years and the later years I noticed his eyes clouding up. He was having trouble seeing. 8 years is getting old.

Epsom is a good call as suggested by deadliestviper, it can allow for increased blood flow to the ocular cavity and may speed up healing

He doesn't eat feeders except for once, but feed now omega one large cichlid and no night crawlers for quite a while . yes his eyes are a bit cloudy.

U should try giving him crickets and other arthopods ,such as ghost shrimp, this may give his immune system a boost,it often works with sick fish,no idea why

Epsom salts to no avail, I didn't change his food but he eats hikari and omega one pellets,,no he doesn't eat feeders ,, almost without exception but I went and bought three comets just to try getting him to eat.

he ate one and the two are still swimming around after a day and a half,,,ah well may have to do him in he is getting old I don't want him to starve to death.
