hi there, wondering if some experienced fish keepers could enlighten me on their routine for keeping fish healthy water additive wise?
many thanks in advance

Additive? Chemicals? The only chemical you should use is dechlorinator to bind chlorine and chloramine. Just keep up with your water changes and vary the food menu. Also quarantine every new fish for four weeks at most.

so there is no product to use as a general preventative i could include in my water maintenance?
AND
so to quarantine a fish you just put it in a separate tank for 4 weeks? do you put an Antibacterial product in the water or anything?

You cannot prevent any health issues but you can avoid it by being diligent with your tank maintenance. Any product claiming they do is snake oil.:shakehead When you quarantine, you just do your usual routine. No meds are needed.

do you have any experience with snake oil?
many thanks for your help dude your the only person that replies to my amateur questions.
