We ended up going with the african cichlids in our tank and my wife loved the P. Demasoni so we got a group of 9. Two of them have a bloated area in their throats. The area seems to be wiggling or moving a bit. Are these fish holding? They also seem to have found their own quiet corners to do their thing. Neither seems overly interested in the act of eating right now.

I've noticed females are weary of spitting out fry in a tank with tank mates unless they feel very safe. In a cave ect. Recommend a rearing tank of ten gallons with some decor

If you want the fry to survive then get a 10 gallon tank to put the holding fish in until they spit out the fry, otherwise most of the fry will be eaten by the other fish.

So our holding fish left us a treat of 15 wonderful fry today. We had them in a tupperware and they are now in a small 5 gallon grow out tank that we put together. Very cool to get such an awesome number from the fish. Our first shot at raising fry. Thanks for the advice, added a picture of them right after they left the mother and were moved to a safe place.

Looks like we may have another of our demasoni holding now too!!!!

Awesome!!! Make sure to keep the water in the fry tank really clean. Most people do small water changes every day to keep the parameters just about perfect. It helps to get maximum growth rate from the fish. Good luck and keep us updated.
