I found this little guy last night in my canal, I figure someone released him unless its a colorful molly (which i don't beleive so). He's pretty cool and I'm going to hang on to him, figured its best to not have anything in my canal that doesn't belong, they just found some pirahnas the other day in a pond not to far from me and poisoned the whole thing :(, killing all the fish to make sure the pirahna don't spread, too bad they wouldnt let me take one, or maybe some of the bass out before they poisoned it, but thats FWC for ya. They'll kill something before they allow it for aquaria. Well let me know what this is.

yea it does look like a jewel cichlid, i think you're right. thanks man

Definitely a jewel. I have caught them all over Florida.

this is why the hr669 is here.because ignorant keepers releases thier fish where they are not suppose to be. thats probably why there are pirahna in your local pond. but back to the point its a jewel.

Yep, Jewel Cichlid. Nice pickup and surprise :)

And if you are talking about what i think you are talking about, there is a thread in the Squash HR669 forum about it.

I had a guy buy a little Pleco one day I told him how big they get....he said "Oh I know last one I just threw into the canal" !?! I told him that is actually illegal, he replied in a sarcastic tone okay!?! I now have a RFI sticker in the back of my car that says never release aquarium fish into the wild....Long story short Nice Jewel sad an african is stuck in Florida

Nice jewel!
