Dont quote me on this but backnin the day...I think they were called Texas cichlid...or similar . At least look similar. Dont think flowerhorn, they get massive bulbous head growths. Probably would have shown by now. Looks like a OG fish to me though whatever it is.
Funny how I recall jack Dempsey back in the day. Now they have these neon blues lol. Crazy...this is mine now at about 4 inches or so. So much for slow grower, eats like a pig.
To me it looks like one of the typical barred Amphilophines from the Nicaraguan lakes, but without info about it provenance, there is no way to tell what species "or" if it is a hybrid (FH).
There are at least a dozen species of Amphilophines that come from the Nicaraguan great lakes with barred morphs, and the only way to tell them apart is to know which lake they or their ancestors were collected in.
