It looks like a haplochromis sp 44 but I could be wrong Iam pretty new at cichlids though Iam reading alot. If it is I believe they need 75 gals . Pat

Victorian Hap - sp. #44 as said by others. AKA Hap. obliquidens (not to be confused with zebra obliquidens) and Hap. sp. "Thick Skin".

Mine is 6" at around 2 years old and is the boss of the tank. He is in with a variety if other cichlids, but nothing is much bigger than he. Good chance this fish could work in your set-up.

I have some of these - Hap sp44 thickskin (or aka redtail) the males get to around 7 inches, the females a little smaller. The pic is a male, females are a dull silver and when breeding get faint stripes and slight gold coloration. They are fairly aggressive but normally just chase if the other fish is of similar size, smaller fish they will often kill if they can catch them. You will be lucky if any other fish breed in a tank with Hap sp44 - as soon as the mating dance starts the male sp44 runs intervention and splits them up.
They are mouthbrooders and breed fairly easily. I have 5 (1 male & 4 female) in my 175g
