So i work at a petco in colorado two nights a week.

I was cleaning out our section of cichlid's and in the sump under the tanks, i saw a big fish! i ended up taking all the filter equipment out and trying to catchhim for an hour. and finally i did!

he is about 4 inches long. the type of fish he is, is the confusing part.

it has to be somthing simple, since we only carry basic cichlids at my work. but my guess is that a convict and blood parrot hybridise and the fry got sucked in and he grew up in there for that long! I have an attached picture. his coloration is the same as a convict, but a bit whiter, and his fins have a deep redish pink in them.

any ideas?

so the biggest reason i am curious now is this.

he really started taking a liking to small 2 inch pink convict in my 55. they followed eachother for a couple days and then the convict got all orange like she was ganna lay eggs and they got real aggressive (the pair) so i moved them to their own 14 gallon tank. and they have layed babies! i thought she had eaten the eggs, but last night i saw her herding up about 30 fry with egg sacks still attached. is this going to be a DOUBLE hybrid?!

thats a convict
