Fish ID

I purchased this fish at PetSmart the other day. I dont know what kind it is though. The name at PetSmart only said Cichlid SA.

Looks like a Port Acara, Cichlasoma portalegrense to me.

Pretty sure its a Leatacara dorsiger, A nice looking, peaceful SA dwarf- males top out around 3.5" - females a little smaller. I think you have a female.

Petsmart lists them as a curvicep cichlid but the ones Ive seen are dorsigers.

Laetacara dorsigera, hope it's in with peaceful cichlids. Judging so by the angel in the first photo. Lovely little fish.

When I first got it, it never had any red or blue on its body, the blue is hard to see you have to look at it in an angle. It only had a yellowish copper color. Is this a good thing? Is "it" a male or female?

1000% Laetacara dorsigera ... got mine from petsmart as well, also sold as curviceps. Unfortunately for sexing, both males and females have the dorsal spot. So it comes down to fin length. Hard to tell with just one without others to compare. How big is it? The fin length could indicate an adult female or a juvy male ... it's right on the border length.

he's about 2 in. not exact tho. While i was trying to measure him i do see some what of a point on his dorsal fin.
