My friend gave me this little guy who was sick and beaten up by puffers, i isolated him in a 5g tank and he has started looking better and i have got him eating again. anyone know what it is, i am going to put him in my 55 soon.
Looks like a "black shark" close cousin to a red-tail shark, or rainbow shark. Don't know the scientific name off the bat. docile/semi-aggressive about 4-6" full grown iir. Poor dear, looks like he got harassed majorly. sinking pellets, HQ flakes, frozen bloodworms, brine. scavenger type fish ime. Also looks like a case of velvet? or are those bite marks? GL! and I rememebr them really liking hikari algae wafers!.
he has been eating tropical flakes and algea waffers. Do you think its safe to put him in wiht my other fish? I will probably put him in soon, just don't want my other fish to get sick.
First thing, it's covered with Ich, so start treating/raise temps.
Second, Black sharks, Labeo chrysophekadion, can grow to over 24" in length and are slime and scale eating, territorial monsters equal to the worst SA cichlid.
Harlequin sharks have a "OB" (orange-blotch) pattern, that fish is solid greyish/black. Also, that fish is relatively uncommon, when IDing fish, the simplest, most common explanation is usually correct.
