pacu. not a cichlid. your in the wrong place. they grow to about 4 feet long fyi. imo not an aquarium fish.
thts a black pacu to be exact the bigger of the two between blacks and red belly's, they will get anywhere from 3-4ft. across RATHER QUICKLY

OP, how do you plan on housing him? Maybe you should consider taking him back if you don't have accomodations for such a large beast.

If you do have the space to keep him, I once read that it's a good idea to cover any underwater wires with pvc pipe and such to protect em. There's this MFK member that had his whole pond electrocuted because a pacu bit off a wire from the pump or something.
Pacus bite anything and everything no matter how much you feed them. I had a friend who had 3 and they ate every plastic plant and pooped out green particles for weeks.
