Anyone know what this little guy might be?

Went to my local brewery today, which happens to be across the street from a lfs... and well, Im sure you can do the math... ?

Was not labeled other than south American. I thought it kinda looked like something among the lines of andino acara or smaller but could he wrong. Anyhow this guy had some really nice colors at the store and seemed pretty feisty.

Any ideas?

I really liked the black at the end of the scales pattern!

Looks like some type of true parrot cichlid

Looks like a black acara.

Without provenance just call it a “port” which along with bimaculatum have been in the hobby forever. Cichlasoma portalagensis or bimaculatum or maybe dimerus

The most commonly available of the iridescent Cichlasoma would be C. dimerus, so it’s likely that.

Only cichlasoma I currently keep, and thusly all I’ve got pictures of- undescribed gold acara. Sp ruta 44. I’m going to get dimerus belle union back this summer.
