[The Masked Shadow]

What is this fish? They’ve bred at least twice In less than 5 months. They are in an outside patio tank with lots of plants, and 6 Uruguayan cichlids + 3 Flagfish. They are not what I thought they were - sailfin mollies.

They may not be sailfins but they are related and probably are some type of mass bred molly.A shop here used to sell them as feeders as an alternative to rosey reds and goldfish.

Looks like some variety of Xiphophorus variatus.

They got id’d on another forum as xiphophorus variatus, but some blandish kind. I think the ID is right. They don’t act like Platys. They seem like a less posh version! They will stop eating, and they don’t get overly fat at random times. They won’t pick at everything, as well.

Shape looks like my mollies.
Is the head really flat with a wide mouth or is it much thinner?

Looks like platy to me, vet common color morph where I’m from. Though I cannot remember what they get called…

agreed.... tuxedo yellow platy is my guess
