Fish jumping into overflow

Just setting up a new tank. Only have 2 fish in it so far. 1 is a catfish and hes jumped into to overflow box twice already. Any1 have experience with that? Will he learn a leason or do I have to idot proof it? They are glass built in overflows in a 240g.

you're probably going to have to put a tight cover over the overflow portion...I don't think they figure it out I had some loaches that did it so many times I just left them in the sump.

Cover it. Fish aren't the smartest animals on the planet and while some may learn to recognize who feeds them, almost none have enough critical thinking skills to determine where and when to jump.
