ok so i have lost 4 fish in the last 2 weeks in order 1 was a dwarf gourami witch i think had swim bladder. the second 2 were female guppys one died after birth one died trying to give birth. ( i am told this is normal). the most recent was a male guppy i bought about a week ago. I bought 2 pairs the other 3 are fine still. (German blue guppys).

tank: 30 gallon 3 live plants I cant remember the names, couple of fake ones and a rainbow rock,

filter is emperor 400 ( over kill i know but hey it was cheep) and under the gravel filter. no extra air stones.

fish : 6 neon blue tetras 2 angels; 3 male guppys left 3 female guppys left 3 albino cory 1 pleco ( cant remember name but i was told the kind i have dont get very big) and 3 snails

i have 7 guppy fry about 4 weeks old to none of them have died or look sick

PH was high 8.2-8.4 i add 1/2 scoop of api 7.0 ph to try and bring it down slow.

edited ( i forgot to say i adder 2.5 cap fulls of jungle start right to the tank befor the fish died ( back of bottle say add 3 cap fulls to 10 gallons to help repair damaged fins and skin.)

topped of tank with some water ( little colder than room temp about 65. about 1/3 gallon. strait from tap.

15 mins latter i noticed i could not find the one male.( i cant remember if he was there when i got home from work or not tho ) found him in the top right corner behind baby net i fished him out put him back in the middle next i found him in the baby net i get him out and he started acting like he had swim bladder would stop swimming then get a busts of energy then stop and just float to the top. i tried to put him in big glass jar with a airline and little marine salt but he died 5 mins latter.

if any one can shed some light on what i am doing wrong it would help alot as i dont think i am going to by any more fish till i can find out whats going on.

i saved a water sample from TOD but i have not checked it yet. ( i plan to check water tomorrow night when i get home again.
thx guys

A few questions

How long has this tank be set up and running?
Does your tap water have chlorine in it?
Did you use a dechlorinator?
What are your what parameters?

Fish can be sensitive to rapid water temp changes and ph changes. I would test your water as soon as possible. I would hesitate to speculate on the COD before knowing all the facts.

tank been set up since December 1
i dont know if are water has chlorine, i believe so( but the start right stuff i put it dose take it out) so says the bottle
and i dont know what parameters your talking about?
water check ph down to 8.0-8.2
nitrate 0
nitrite 0
ammonia 0-.25ppm

i did a 1/3 water change on .... Tuesday night

Water perameters are your
"water check ph down to 8.0-8.2
nitrate 0
nitrite 0
ammonia 0-.25ppm"

Your ammonia is a little high, but not deadly. Are you sure that you tested the water correctly? You can get false negatives if done in-properly. Follow all directions to the letter. I say this because you say you have no nitrites and no nitrates. Nitrites are a byproduct of the bacteria eating the ammonia and nitrates are byproduct from the nitrites. The only way to remove nitrates is by doing water changes or by having live plants. If your tank was fully cycles I would expect to see no ammonia no nitrites and very little nitrates.

i have 3 live plants and i did a 1/3 water change on Tuesday night. i fell asleep after i read your reply. i still have a water sample from TOD and i am going to the LFS after work, there pretty nice to me as i spend a lot of money there. i still have the dead fish in a jar just in case they see some damage i did not.

so the other guppy died the day after. took them back to the LFS said they would give me 2 more. my water still looks fine. i did only have them for about a week.
