I am using a Sigma 24-70 2.8 lense on a Canon D20. The lighting is a seperate flash head diffused through white paper above the tank.
 
David, the photography is what got me re-evolved for keeping fish again. It opened a new world for me too.

I'm curious...where did you get the idea to add the white paper to diffuse your flash?

That is the same lens I have.. Cool.

Curious Question, I don't know where do we get ideas, I am tempted to say in the idea department of any better store, but I won't :-).

Any time you want a diffuse light source, to avoid harshness, or dupplicate the lighting of a big cloudy sky, that is what I do. I have a big roll of drafting paper that has kept me going for years. Also remember that the further away the flash is from the paper the more diffuse the light will be therefore more even exposure, less hot spots.
