fish known to get out of tanks?

either by jumping or escaping.

i know aros and eels are on that list. crabs too.

what other fish are known jumpers or escape artist?

Gar can be jumpers and break their backs readily particularly when young.

My friend just had some goldfish die because of this!

I have had discus and oscars do it as well.

killi fish, Bichir, any and all crayfish, had mystery snails do it once. If my tank did not have a top my Dempsey would be a goner he is skittish and hits the glass when startled.

Blacknose Dace. I had 6 a few weeks ago and lost 3 from jumping, all tanks had tight lids and they jumped out of a hole in egg crate that couldn't have been more than 0.75" side to side.

Guppy's jump a lot as well. At night if your by the tank you can hear the breaking the surface
