fish lacerations

man, one of my channa bleheri made a unexpected jump, cutting his head in the process. looks a bit deep, concerned about infection.

any thoughts on how to avoid infection?
how bout a 20min salt bath?

Probably would work better if salt was added to water at about half ounce per gallon,this will help stop any infection for while whilst it heals.Also this will give less stress.Keep eye out for any deterioration of wound,mostly they will heal quite quickly.

Get some melafix. Perfect for it. You could also apply neosporin with a q tip. Melafix sounds easier. Hate to hear you were beat up by a fish!!!!

I have seen neosporin mentioned as a topical treatment on a few sites but have never used it. I have used iodine and hydrogen peroxide on swabs as topical anti-infectives.

net out the fish hold it in a wet rag and apply iodine to the damaged area and keep in pristine water conditions and youll be just fine
