My Jack dempsey have been exclusively fed NLS Cichlid formula since I got it at 2-inch. I recently switched to Cichlasoma formula and saw a difference in its color : the blue color intensity increased while the red one decreased. In fact, I really prefer it that way.

The Cichlasoma formula pellets are less red than the Cichlid one, probably because they contain a higher herring/krill ratio. Could that be the explanation ? I was wondering if someone experienced something like this ?

I suspect that what you are seeing is a natural morph in color as your fish is maturing. The fact that you are seeing this after recently switching to the 3mm pellets is just a coincidence, as the krill/herring ratio is the same in those 2 formulas. Also keep in mind that there's a whole lot more to the red color enhancement in NLS than just krill. :)
