Hey all, I have never posted on here, just kind of lurked and learned. Anyways, this is a terrible first time post, but I have a big problem. I ordered a fish and the shipper insisted on sending it on Friday the 25th for next day and it was supposed to arrive here to me today (saturday, 26th) but got stuck about two hours away in a center that is now closed for the weekend and will not open until monday. Believe me, I did EVERYTHING to try and contact that center to drive and pick up my fish, but no one is there.

So my question is if anyone here has any idea (or had any luck) with a fish being in shipping (with all neccessary stuff for safe transport) for this long? It will be probably from mid-day friday to mid-day monday that it'd be bagged. I'm assuming it will arrive dead and I'm devastated (already balled my eyes out ) but maybe anyones experienced a miracle?

As if it werent bad enough it arrived from overnight shipping from Thailand on the 24th.

Do I have any hope???

What kind of fish? How big?

it may arrive alive but I would be prepared for the worst, and I hope the seller is willing to replace the fish since he decided to mail the fish on a friday.

Its possible depending on the fish and the packing that it will be ok.Be prepared with ammolock first thing monday. If you open the bag and smell ammonia get the fish into freshwater immediatly.Good luck.

replace the ammolock with seachem prime much more effective... I have used both and currently using prime my self.

It is a large cichlid, 5"

And what are those two products neccessary for exactly? I've got a tank read and waiting just incase he does arrive alive, but what would be the purpose of using ammolock or the other one? Don't I just want to get him acclimated ASAP and into the tank?

Abuley, hope for the best, but with fish that large, I'm not sure he'd survive in a bag for that long. Have you heard back from the sender about what to do if the fish doesn't make it? Seems like his fault since he did send it out on a Friday...

Alot of vendors REFUSE to ship on Fridays for this very reason!

I called him today 5 times to help with locating the fish and all, so there's not really anything else he can do, I figured I'd wait for it to arrive or atleast try contacting the center again tomorrow before I called the transhipper again. I think he hates me by now :(. So much for having a good first shipping experience. I'll keep you guys posted. I'm not religious but if any of you are, pray for my poor fish!!

Thanks again guys.
