Hi,

I just bought a 1.5 inch Haitiensis and I was wondering If I could put it in a 8 gallon tank with 7-8 african cichlids, would the african cichlids kill the Haitiensis or vise versa?

Thanks,
Alex

I called it!!! Lol

If your tank has alot of hiding spots and your cichlids are of similiar size u may get lucky but if theres a significant size difference then goodbye!!!

Strong current can break up the aggression along w/ 72-76° temp and proper feeding!

No, haitian will bloat because africans are very nippy and will pick on him.

Your just asking for bloat if your going to mix a juvenile haitian with africans

Try using the search engine on mfk for questions about haitiensis. You will find lots of good info and different threads

+1

Why mix them anyway? Africans require water around 8.2 ph and above, the Haitian is down around 7.2 ph. Why give it more reasons to bloat and die?

I thought they were found at a bit higher ph than 7.2? I think I read something a while back, I'll have to dig it up. Still agree 100%, don't mix them, experienced CA keepers like those that have posted in this thread have a hard enough time with haits as it is.
Where have you been madness?
