ok so i know its not exactly monster, but i got 14 bleeding heart tetras for my 55 and one of them looks like its mouth is missing. i wanted to figure out what is wrong with it before i got my severum. i put the other 13 in the 55, and that one into a 10 by itself. if it has some kind of disease, the others probably have it too since they were all shipped in the same bag.
not the greatest picture, but you can see that hes not normal.

there is no way that it has no mouth...because then he could not have gotten to be that size.

Think about it......how can you grow without adding mass to your body? (eating drinking. mass cannot be created no destroyed remember?)

I think he just has nothing to say.

well yea, i know that lol, i just dont know how to describe it.
but why is half of his face missing?
instead of looking like this

lol if that makes any sense.

at first i put him with the rest in the 55. he'd school with them for a while. then he just hung out by himself at the bottom. so something is obviously not right here. i just dont know what caused it..

I wish I could help you for just the laugh I got from your description.... Thats really funny

That can be caused by several causes, with captive bred fish with a long history of inbreeding it is a fairly common birth defect.

so is he good to keep with the other guys, or should i keep him seperated?

One of my pacus had a mouth like that. He grew a few inches while I had him but mysteriously died in the night. Cool lookin bugger though.

haha thanks guys lol

the poor thing can barely eat, i dunno how he got so big.
i tried flakes but he just couldnt eat them.
then i tried bloodworms and he got those a bit easier.. but if they didnt fall in front of his half-mouth the right way he couldnt get them.
its pretty sad =(
