So my gold dust is a lazy lazy fish who has been chilling in a 29g all by his lonesome. While he is eating now he is still very inactive and not growing much.

My del is in my 75 gallon community tank (Gold dust did not go in at first because del was still so small) The del however is now longer and thicker than the gold dust (by a small margin) both are around 5-5.5 inches.

I am thinking of moving the gold dust to the 75g to see if it perks him up a bit being in an active tank (figure I will hafto make sure he is eating at first). I worry that the current in the 29g is stronger than he is comfy with and thats why he just hides. Also the community tank has sand instead of gravel which from what I have seen my polys prefer.

Community tanks has
4 Mollys
8 cory cats
3 bolivian rams
3Kribensis
2 red hump geos
2 weather loaches
1 Polypterus delhzi

Nothing in there is mouth sized for him by any means. I just worry about him because I know in the shop I got him from they had issues with vanishing tank mates and the day I brought him home he had a full belly so I know he will happily go for live.

Corys are full grown and thicker than he is and both loaches are much bigger. Not worried much about the others .

So any thoughts or concerns with the move?

Should be good to move him.

Mine was never very active. Side not though as both grow you may end up with soe missing fish. At one point i had some molly's in another tank and had to tear it down they were pretty big and at the time my del was maybe 6 inches figured no way he'll fit them in his mouth....next morning he looked like he was gonna burst and the mollys were gone

He will be fine but lazy as he is. That's a personality thing. In the wild bichirs come from rivers, the current doesn't mean nothing to him.

They are shallow river fish. They live in areas of low or a slight flowing current. They aren't built to handle lots of current. Too much does bother bichirs. Keep in mind and just an fyi.

was the main reason I wanted to move him. That and the gravel. He is already actually a lot more active. Could just be checking out the new digs till he gets bored.but I watched him swim several laps and he and my Del got aquainted with no notable aggression thus far.
Hopefully I come home to healthy fish this evening :P
