anyone heard of a fish called

Chilumba Mac


I picked up a few today in a auction, and I am now confused as to what they are...Sorry no pics...It is a mbuna...

Tropheops sp. "Chilumba" (Katale)? Anyone?

Tropheops sp. Chilumba. There is more than one location for T. sp. chilumba so you wouldn't know which unless you were given a location for your fish at the time of purchase, and most don't sell with location unless they're WC. Even then many folks don't bother to mention where a WC fish was collected.
Anyhoo, back to the original question, yes, T. sp. chilumba. "chilumba mac" would be for the assumption that the Tropheops was a T. macrophthalmus, which at one point many of the undescribed Tropheops varieties were all lumped into T. macrophthalmus.
Oh, and just as a warning, they're supposed to be real hellraisers. Cute though.

got it, one of the two types as red in the fin, the other does not. I found the buyer and got the info...
