I have had many of my fish from 1" babies for over a year now some were rescues that I thought were full grown. The point is my blue acara female who is 3 years old seems go be still growing but a little. But over the 3 years I have seen steady slow growth. She is not 5" and solid.

My uaur I got them as rescues I though they were done but they have grown a little bit over the year I had them. My severum got him at 1.5" he is 8" and seems to be slowing growing more. My true parrot is the one that I dont think wick ever stop growing. I got her at 4" a year ago she is 8" and still growing.

So do our fish really ever stop growing? Or is it that the growth slows down so much it might seem like they stoped growing but really they are still getting bigger? It seems the fish that fish that live longer get biggest? Maybe because they have so much more time to grow?

Maybe I an crazy but do you think fish ever really stop growing?

Fish have what's called 'indeterminate growth', meaning fish will keep growing larger as long they continue to live and are unchecked by disease. That means the larger fishes also tend to be the oldest ones.

Ectotherms (cold-blooded animals) do not have actual maximum sizes. They continue to grow throughout their entire lives. The rate at which they grow obviously drops drastically, but they will always be growing.
