i have a 30 gallon tank with 6 zebra danios and 2 Red Fire Dwarf Gouramis. the gouramis are new. when i feed the fish the danios quickly eat up everything before the gouramis have a chance. i'm concerned the gourami are going to starve:(

try a combo of different foods, maybe the danios will go for one while the gouramis get to eat another. i'd give a bit more too, the danios will slow down a little when they get fuller, and the gouramis will get a chance. works for me at least. also had a neighbor keep danios, bettas, gouramis, angels, tetras, all sorts of crap in a big tank and they all got fed well.

Welcome to MFK!!!

That problem hits every fishkeeper at one time or another. It's a good idea to keep slow fish with other slow fish and fast fish with fast fish. If adding more food causes a maintenance problem, your recourse may only be to remove some fish and get tankmates with the same activity level.

OR you could feed at different times, several times a day. Multiple feedings increase the chance for all the fish to get something to eat. Another option would be to feed on two seperate ends of that tank simutaneously...;). That way the food is present throughout most of the tank. Rotate your foods, brine shrimp, flake, pellets, and so on. Variety will help with their health and feedings. If those don't work Oddball nailed it dead on, remove some fish and add some different ones.

several small feedings seperated by a few minutes should help, also gouramis will eat sinking granules and that should also help.

if u can pick up a divider and put that in the middle and feed ur fish the same food for awile then u should be able to remove the divider and ur gouramis will recognize the food and should go straight at it and eat.. if not then u can use guppys depending on the size of ur gs. mine were big enough to eat them..
