Okay so this is a strange question, but... I've been noticing for over a year that none of my cichlids seem to grow, at all. I do weekly 50% water changes, and both tanks are running 3 filters (AQ 110, 70, and 50 on the 55 gallon, and an AQ30, 20, and a sponge filter on my 20 long)

Here are my setups...

55 gallon

1 carpintis "vontehillo" - I've had this fish since July 14th, and he has not changed since I got him, I know the growth rate is supposed to be slow (about .25" per month), but I'm confused.

20 long

1 HRP Rio Danlii - This guy I've had since March 11th, he's lived in the 20 long since I got him, has always been the alpha fish, and has not grown either. I know their growth rate is supposed to be slow too, but still...

Also last year I had a 90 gallon (before it leaked) and had a baby tiger oscar in it (same water change schedule, running the AQ110 and an Eheim 2026), from august to january he grew 1 inch.

Does anyone have an idea as to why this is happening? I'm using city water for my tanks, and am treating my water as I introduce it. Everyone eats once a day, sometimes twice. Just really frustrating

I don't know why they aren't growing because the tank seizes seem good and the tank seems to be in good condition as well.
Maybe there growth was stunt from were you bought them or your just not feeding them enough. Strange :)
since the fish you have aren't supposed to grow super fast, it's normal.

But i don't think it's an issue for the fish

That is kind a weird. That fish in the second set of pics is really cool. Never seen or heard of those before. Is that a central? Your fish look to be in excellant shape other than the slow growth. Maybe someone else with some ideas will chime in. I myself am stumped.

how much do you feed them? and what is the tank temperature!

i know what you mean.in my wifes tank she feeds floating and sinking pellets, flake, bloodworms 7 days a week to the fish and her african knife is still 3" 1 1/2 years later.he ever gets bigger than a feeder i can move him to bigger tanks.its a 75gal with a eheim 2260,do 50% water changes a week and perams are always perfect.

Is this a joke???????????I feel good then if the 50% water change per week is maintained........Varied diet including mealworms, crickets, maybe tubifix worms..........Clean the sponge of your filters once per week............
