There are several grades of trout and salmon pellets available, some are medicated and I have heard that some contain growth hormones, others are just a fairly standard food pellet that contains a high percentage of fish meal and oils, They are designed for active cold water fish and have a reputation of leading to fatty accumulations if fed as a steady diet to tropicals, much like feeding predator pellets to goldfish.
