imo freeze dried shrimp is better but market shrimp/prawns is far better. more protein and better colour enhancing properties.

a fresh tinfoil barb is BY FAR nutritionally superior to a freezed dried shrimp.

theres no contest

plz explain. because a feeders benefits greatly outweigh its risks. you just have to be smart about what you use and where you get it from.:)

like i said IMO! also i prefer market prawns over most other foods far better than tinfoil barbs lol.

in regards to feeders pffft i dont touch them at all unless i know where they come from, y take the risk? when there are other foods readily available. my uncle runs an arowana farm in singapore and he only ever uses homemade pellets for his fishes at the farm never onced touched any thing else and has top quality fishes. ;)

I too use prawns and mussle with my silver arowana no feeders and he's doing brilliantly and is really growing.

I agree why risk it or even spend the time to quarantine. I would rather feed mine stuff i KNOW is safe and nutritious... Unless u really can find where the feeders are from and safe or spend the time properly quarantining id be all of prepared.

but if for some reason u know someone with like a convict farm or you have come good breeders more power to ya.

Yep it is easier unless you need to cull fry or your are breeding cons and using them as feeders.

the only things i dont like about shrimp is that they have hardly any fat or carboyhdrates, some things a whole fish does have. also shrimp has hardly any nutrient value, ok a 4% vitamin A, 6% calcium, 4% C, and 15% iron.

other than that, good source of iron (15%), 46% protein level, and a 51% cholesterol.
