Hello,

I was wondered whether anyone has experienced problems when mixing coldwater and tropical fish in the same aquarium? I have been lead to believe that the imune system of say a goldfish would say not be immune to the types of infection found in tropical waters?

Please can anyone to help clarify if this is the case?

I wouldn't expect many differences in the diseases found in coldwater versus tropical. The coldwater fish, in a tropical tank, would have higher-than-normal metabolism, which would generally decrease the overall lifespan of the fish... think about your body working twice as fast, you wouldn't last as long :)

The stress of an accelerated metabolism would probably make the fish more susceptible to diseases.
