Hello,

I was wondered whether anyone has experienced problems when mixing coldwater and tropical fish in the same aquarium? I have been lead to believe that the imune system of say a goldfish would say not be immune to the types of infection found in tropical waters?

Please can anyone to help clarify if this is the case?

I wouldn't expect many differences in the diseases found in coldwater versus tropical. The coldwater fish, in a tropical tank, would have higher-than-normal metabolism, which would generally decrease the overall lifespan of the fish... think about your body working twice as fast, you wouldn't last as long

The stress of an accelerated metabolism would probably make the fish more susceptible to diseases.
