Hey
I've just started digging a new pond in my backyard. It will be about 11,5'*6,5' with a deep end at about 4' and with three steps with diffrent depth. the larger part of the pond will consist of the 4 feet deep area, but there will also be a 1,5' deep area and a really shallow area for semi-aquatic plants. I think it will hold between 2000-2500 gallons so my question to you guys is, what kinda fish can i keep in there?

I've been thinking about a sturgeon, 4-5 kois and, if i can get hold of a nice specimen, some sort of trout. Will it work? Is my pond to small? I know i need good circulation foral these fish, especially the trout and i intend to keep the pond very well circulated with two pumps, one airpump and two large filter-containers.

Kind regards
Adam

I don't have an answer for you....but others will be able to help you quicker if you tell us where you live/what climate. What you can stock in the pond largely depends on the local climate.

Good point. No need to try to chill a pond in AZ or Cali.

sorry, i live in sweden so any cooling of the pond won't be necessary apart from possible a couple of month during summer, but the temp should stay low for most of the year.

Oncorhynchus mykisswas the trout I was thinking of keeping...

Don't know about the trout, but sounds like a good setup for Koi's.
