Im sure this has been ask before but im having trouble finding any good advice.
Im in the process of setting up a small fishroom. It will be about 8 small tanks a mix of 10, 15, and 20 gallon tanks, as well as four 55 gallon tanks, and 1 large tank that will come later, possibly 180 or 240 gallon. My question: I would like to use a centralized air pump to power sponge filters in the small tanks. Which pump would you get? Im looking for one that would be cheap to operate but be powerful enough to power 8 to 10 sponge filters.

Check out Jehmco.com. They have a good selection of air pumps. Plus, they have manifolds to split the air out as well.

Thanks for the links guys, but im looking for more direct information. Im really new to air pumps the only ones i have ever used were small, made to power one little air stone or bubble wall. Im looking to find out how to pick the size that is best for my needs. What should i look for, CFM, PSI or wattage. Is Linear Piston better or Diaphragm. I want a pump that is going to last with little maintenance, and low power consumption.

I personally use linear air pumps however for 8-10 10 gal tanks I think you can get by with the super luft air pump you can pick one up from Bigalsonline.com here's some info:
The Super Luft Air Pump produces high pressure output. Excellent for protein skimmers, oxygen reactors and other devices requiring high flow or pressure. Can also be used with airstones, foam or corner filters, undergravel filters and aquarium ornaments. Good in deep water applications. Features 6 outlet plastic valve, 4 outlet adjustable metal valves and a removable air filter. Output flow rate is 65 liters per minute. Output pressure is 3.9 PSI. Dimensions are 6" x 4" x 5". This would seem to cover what you're looking for. If you need more there's a guy at Jehmco that can get you started with your needs. And the manifolds from jehmco are very nice along with their linear air pumps so if you decide to go with a linear air pump don't hesitate to goto jehmco.com. Also there's a nice write up explaining the benefits of both diaphragm and linear air pumps on jehmcos site. I just recently moved from a blower to the LPH60 from jehmco and i'm very pleased, i'm running approx. 47 outlets.
