well i got into my new house and have a 15x16 foot room for the fish room in the basement. before i finish the walls i was looking for advice on how i should run things. i am going to start with sponge filters, but may do a central filtration system later. anyway what would u do in your fish room set up? looking for ideas as this is my first

Get a water faucet and a drain installed somewhere in the room. If you don't, the day will come when you wish you did (I know I do).

There is going to be a door from the room into the utility room which has the water hook ups for a sink and there is a floor drain in there too.

dehumidifier for the room...dont want mold growing in your new house...maybe though you mean sealing the walls when you say finishing them...

Not sure what you mean by sealing the walls, but it is an option I guess. How big of a dehumidifier?

I don't know about sealing walls either thats why I thought maybe you already had this bit covered. The humidifier I guess really depends on how many tanks/gallon you will have in the room. I've never had the need to own one as most of my life I lived in the desert, it was never humid.
I would also probably get something to measure the humidity level in the room just incase the dehumidifier isn't working to well. You could also run a hose from the dehumidifier to the floor drain so you don't have to worry about it stopping from being full.

i say centralised filtration system FTW...if not youll end up having to do WC's everyday (depending on how many tanks you have of course).... and a drain / water outlet for a hose.

On my big tank i wish i had setup a water inlet from a tap and a drain pipe on siphon... instead once a week i break my back carrying huge buckets!

i was thinking of putting a 55 gallon water storage in the utility room which will fill up with ro/di water and using a powerhead and hose to fill the tanks up from it

for a fish room, what would you recommend for a central filter set up?
