anyone know what causes fish to scratch when there are no signs of ick? it started with my silver bass. he had ick and i got rid of it but he never stopped scratching then next my royal knife started to scratch and now my arow does it. any ideas? treatments?

Just because you can't see the ich doesn't mean its not there. Its just not showing yet. When you see the white spot its the slim coat reacting the the open wound. If it is ich I prefer to treat with heat 87 to 89 degrees F and salt if your fish can handle salt. My knife fish is sensitive to salt so I just treat with heat this last time. I also add extra surface agitation for oxygen. Once you see the last sign of ich I keep the heat up for about 1 week.
