In my 46 gallon I have two 3" Fronts, 3 brichardi, and 4 julies. The brichardi have paired up and are taking the tank over, they are nipping my fronts which is unacceptable, I am going to break down the tank and seperate the fish. I have 2 empty 10 gallons. Can I put the 3 brichardi in a 10 gallon? Would it be okay to keep the julies in the 46 with the fronts? They dont seem to bother each other.

Make those two ten gallons grow into a 20....

Fronts and Julies should do OK for a while....

Yeah, you could throw the brichardi in the 10. I would just throw the pair though. The odd man (or woman) out is going to get shredded in there. The 3rd wheel should not nip at your Fronts.

The Jullii's will be fine in the 46 until of course they pair off as well!?!?!

GAR! Im doomed, well I am buying another 55 here soon, so I can throw the Fronts in there....

I don't think you are doomed. In fact you may be alright when the Julli's breed. I have a pair of Transcriptus in my 110 that houses about 40 fish. They only get aggressive when other fish come into their cave where the fry are. Otherwise they don't mess with anyone else.

On a side note, I am going to thin the herd in that tank once my ZO fems get knocked up and I have to wreck the tank to get them out. Bought a bunch of Africans from a guy dumping his tank for myself and a buddy who was in the process of moving his tank when I bought the fish. The buddy is getting about 10 fish out of my tank.

:( breaking down tanks is no fun, I have to break down two more tonight.

your fronts will be ok with a single brichardi for about a year or so. After that the fronts will likely need a six foot tank, so do yourself a favor and start looking for a used six foot tank now. I started out with a 75 gallon and 6 fronts, then moved them to a 135 6 foot tank. now i have just traded all my 75 and smaller tanks for a second large tank, this one is 7 foot. Got to put my other fronts i got in there.

The brichardi pair will be fine for now in a ten gallon as they are slow growing unless the fish are all ready 4 or 5 inch older fish.

Note: if he odd man out is a woman she should be ok with the pair, its only other males that are not so poliltely asked to "move out". LOL

Dont keep julies myself, fronts might eat them in the future if they dont get big as adults. fronts will eat anything that fits in the mouth, usually at night when they are sleeping LOL.

I plan to move the fronts soon, I am buying a 125 and 135 this month.
