1.) Ok I have read about venting 1 million times, yet I forget everytime which is which. Now its super obvious when the tube sticks out which is which but just looking at the vents I can't remember. Is the males two vents the same size?? or is the females the same size???

2.) There is two holes, one is anus and other is breeding tube. Which one is which??? the one close to the head is the anus correct???

3.) How hard is it to get two adult fish to breed?? like is it possible to bring two adults together and pair up??

4.) I am asking all these questions because I have a possible pure trimac(pure by the sellers word and by the looks to me it looks very very close) that may be a female. I want to know the best way that I can tell the difference. My trimac is a male and he is the only one I have ever owned so I don't know the difference because I have never seen a female.

5.) How high should I pump up the temp to get the male excited about the new lady :drool:??

6.) any other tips on how to get any aggressivepowerful cichlid to breed?? I have bred jags but that one was pretty easy since the male was not even half the size of the female.

With something aggressive like a trimac, I would say just to have a divider that the smaller one can fit through but the bigger can't. And as far as venting goes, I think the male is oo and female oO, but I think the V U explanation is much easier to go by (V is the male's breeding tube shape and U is the female's).

Just basically if the breeding tube is pointed then its male and if its nice and rounded then its female.

I don't think you will need to pump up the temp though. It may hinder more than help and make the trimac more aggressive. If its ready to breed it will breed. Just put up a divider that the smaller can fit through. With aggresive fish sometimes they just don't want to breed and would rather murder. Just hope yours is trying to get rid of a dry spell rather than live a life of celibacy.

oh ya i know which is which once they stick out the guns but when its inside you can't tell.

Ya I guess a good divider would be good.

if you know your other is male why compare them?

i'm confused??? what???

I want to see the sex of the fish I am thinking of buying. Not Mine. I don't want to come home with a male and then throw them in together and watch 50 gallons splash out onto my floor

let me ask this.

how big is the possible female at the store?

does this "female" have a black blotch on the dorsal fin?

does the "female" have any sort of pearls?

about 5" TL, I will check for the blotch. Pearls???
