i might build a shed in my backyard for my ever increasing collection. assuming i fully insulate the shed, and use ample heating for the tanks, would that be good enough to keep my fish warm? i know alot of people that just put their tanks in their garages with no probs, and although the temp outside ranges from 20-90f(western washington) i'd say its usually 40 during winter and 70 during summer average. alot of tanks in a small area that is fully insulated should basically heat itself off the tanks if you get my drift.

i say you need a good amount of heat in there i say mabye 2-3 watts(tank heater) per gallon of tank water you have in there

I would think the summer could potentially be more of a problem unless you ac it. If its 90 outside it could turn into an oven in there.

i could ac it. i'll put in a small window and a window hung ac unit if needed.

Just put a AC unit in there and set it to your desired heat (one with climate control)

where you live in WA?
do have natural gas or you on propane

i lived on harstine island and just used a very small space heater to keep my tanks warm

It would be much a much more efficient use of energy if you heated/cooled the room instead of each tank individually.
