My female platy has this white stuff on her. Anyone have an idea what it is so I can properly treat it?

(She would not stay still for very long so I couldn't get any good pictures. Its the white blotch/sore? in front of her dorsal fin.)

When you say white stuff do you mean like cotton type fungus or white spots like ich? The pic isn't very clear.

It looks like white skin over the scales like a fungus, but when I treated her for fungus it did not go away. I looked up columnaris and I now think that might be what it is. Has anyone successfully treated fish for columnaris before?

To treat columnaris you need to lower the temp to no higher than 75. Add aquarium salt at 1 tbls per 5 gallons of water and use a combination of Furan-2 and a gram negative antibiotic like Kenamyacin or simlar. Keep the water extreamly clean durin treatment. HTH.

Ok, thanks, im going to get the aquarium salt tomorrow. Hopefully the meds. will arrive in the mail soon.
