Fish Smuggler's Pants Can't Hold Water

There's no definite ID on the species. One report suggests the species may be the Mangarahara cichlid (Ptychochromis insolitus). This is the cichlid that currently has a reward offered by the Zoological Society of London for a female of the species to breed to the society's 3 males. This madagascan species is believed to be very near of at extinction level in it's native range due to damming drying out their habitats.

Sounds likely enough..could have been some fry of a fancy strain of FH.

He was only discovered cause his bags leaked. He could of made it if he used better bags!
....and he or his cohorts have probably done it a few times before.

The funny thing is that we actually have flowerhorns here in NZ, granted they might not be the flashest strains, but it doesn't seem worth the risk of smuggling them in when they are already here.

It does highlight the downside of having such restrictive import laws, obviously the system we have with a "green list" of allowable imports isn't working as Flowerhorns aren't on there and there is no capacity to allow for hybrids, yet flowerhorns and blood parrots are regularly available here. The authorities that run it are incredibly ignorant and in most cases wouldn't have a clue what they're looking at half the time when inspecting shipments.
