Definitely not pure Midas unless they come in short body now, but I’ve never heard of sb Midas outside of parrots.
Likely bp x Midas (does that make it a kkp?)

Any fish can come in “short-body” as short-body is just a commercial name designed to sell a fish with a spinal deformity. They appear in tons of fish families, in wild fish, etc. So it could easily be a deformed midevil, or one of the plethora of blood parrot hybrids floating around.

Yeah, I know they can be born sb, I’ve just never seen them sold that way unlike many other cichlids.

Blood parrot hybrid cross of some sort. Seller was misinformed or outright BSing.
I agree, definitely a Blood Parrot but I think it's just a unrefined/semi throw back. A BP whose mouth can close is actually considered a low grade as they deviate from the standard set forth for the BP line. However I believe a fish being less impaired is a positive so of course it's subjective. Plus Super King Kong Parrots and Mammons have fully functioning mouths and they're considered higher grade so the grading system is unusual and pretty polarized.

Well said Kolt, it's most definitely confusing, and standards and types seem to vary among the masses, including myself. lol You are probably right, this fish may in fact simply be a sub standard or low grade BP.
