Hi,
I have been running my pond with no fish for two weeks and have been treating it, now im ready to restock it!!!!!
The tank is 400 gallons with a 2400g/h pump/filter and the dimensions are 5' 6' and 2' deep. (Got it for $70 off craigslist from a lady whos girl was diagnosed with cancer :()
I live in warm florida so i dont have to worry about snow or the water freezing.
Any ideas on what to stock it with?
Are koi to big to stock it with?
Would wakin , hibunas (common goldfish), shubunkins and comets be good for my pond?
How many fish do you guys/girls think i can eventually stock it with?
Thanks soooooooo much,
and by the way i have been doing tons of research but wanted to get ur opinions cause your experianced fish keepers!!!!!
:grinno:

Stick to goldfish, ScubaChick. A 400g is much more appropriate for them than koi. All your choices of goldies will work absolutely fine in your pond. Try 20g per fish rule. Most people may think it's very understocked but you do have to realize those variants grow extremely large at 12-18 inches in length and need plenty of space. Even better, keep only 15 goldies.

should i start restocking it by getting only 6-8 goldies every 2 weeks intill i reach 15 goldies? will that give the bioload enough time?

Sounds about right if they are small enough

Do 4-5 and then check parms. If all is good after a few weeks, pt some more in.
